Vista Verde Ranch
So we've told you all the wonderful things about our stay at the ranch.  But what was really the cream of the crop was getting to know all the staff.  In fact, we were laughing that if we applied to work here, we probably wouldn't get the job because we don't have enough degrees!  They are all so wonderful and smart and truly seem to enjoy what they are doing.  We wanted to take them all home with us!

Guides

Steven King

Steven King learned his guiding the hard way—on cross-country ski tours in the Breckenridge area.  Returning for his sixteenth season, Steve is our head hiking and biking guide.  Growing up in an Air Force family, he saw a lot of the country before taking root (well, sort of) in Ohio to earn a graduate degree in exercise physiology.  Steve (he prefers that although he says using “Stephen King” gets him immediate seating in most restaurants) has had a variety of job experiences that you’ll learn about on the trails.

Aimee Slepicka

Aimee Slepicka is back at the ranch for her third season, taking time in between to work in Alaska and then spend some time working on her postgraduate education in Canada.  After graduating from Purdue University with majors in English and Religious Studies, she decided it was time to leave the Midwest and explore the Colorado backcountry.   Aimee is a hopeless book addict—but she loves to stay active and balances her indoor habit with outdoor pursuits such as snowshoeing, distance running and mountain biking.

Meredith Storton

Meredith Storton is our talented fiddle player!  She’s just wrapped up her second year at the University of Virginia and is deciding between majoring in biology or nursing.  After spending last summer helping out in housekeeping, Meredith has returned with goals to spend more time outside and with the guests as a hiking guide.  If you need a little motivation on your hike Meredith can act as the Pied Piper with her fiddle and have you following her up the mountains in no time.

Zachery Hill

Zachery Hill joins us from Denver, CO, but originates from the Sunflower State in Witchita, Kansas.  He has also resided in other faraway places such as Minot, North Dakota and Mildenhill, England.  Zac aspires to mimic his grandfather as an accomplished fly-fisherman.  Zac spent last winter helping out as a ranch hand but is more excited about guiding this summer, hoping to get you all “hooked” on fishing.

Grahm Fulton

Grahm Fulton just graduated with a fine arts woodworking degree from Red Rocks Community College in Denver.  Like Zac, he also has left the Kansas flatlands to pursue fly fishing in the Rocky Mountains.  Grahm has helped us out in numerous ways from building bunk beds to endless snow removal last winter.  This summer he puts his waders back on and looks forward to sharing his passion for fly fishing with you.
